Description:
The position is responsible for:
• Determining quality parameters of incoming silicon wafers
• Working with vendors to optimize silicon for Advent Solar’s needs
• Carrying out fundamental studies to determine impurities, defects, and their interactions with respect to final cell performance
• Writing specifications for incoming materials
• Communication/white paper publications
Requirements
Minimum Education Level:
Graduate degree in materials or metallurgical engineering, electrical engineering, or chemistry.
Desired Experience:
• Silicon manufacturing, processing, wafering, and characterization.
• Optical semiconductor device processing and physics (i.e, photovoltaics, laser diodes, light emitting diodes)
• Knowledge of statistical methods, designed experiments
• Materials analytical techniques (i.e., mass spectroscopy, x-ray techniques, etc.)
• Electrical and optical characterization techniques (i.e. C-V, I-V, DLTS, photo and microwave conductance-decay lifetime, photoluminescence, spectral response, lock-in thermography, electroluminescence)
• Phosphorus diffusions, thermal oxidations, defect passivation methods (i.e. a-SiN:H), oxidations, surface passivation techniques
• Good communication skills (written and oral)
• Collaborations with internal and external engineering groups.
Up to 20% travel may be required
