The successful candidate will provide the necessary strategic focus for the entire business energy efficiency portfolio and ensure that the portfolio maintains its alignment with the California Energy Efficiency (EE) Strategic Plan. The position will also maintain a high level of involvement in the broader energy efficiency marketplace to ensure that the appropriate technologies are being integrated into SCE’s EE product and program offerings and that the program offerings are designed to use new and innovative delivery approaches. Typical responsibilities include: providing recommendations on enhancements to existing programs to ensure strategic objectives are being met; interfacing with the EE Program Planning group by representing Business program interests in the department and statewide strategic planning process; developing market/product requirements based on in-depth market and customer analysis that drives the creation of innovative product plans that help mainstream new technologies and ideas into the current business portfolio; interfacing with Emerging Technologies programs to provide a higher level of strategic focus to the product life cycle and minimize lost opportunities as technologies transition from innovation to adoption; managing and directing a team of product managers and analysts by prioritizing team activities, delegating and monitoring assignments, providing employee coaching and mentoring, and preparing and delivering PPAs, etc; interacting with senior management and executive level management at SCE, other California IOUs, CPUC, California Energy Commission and other market actors to discuss and gain support for various program strategies and broader technical issues; providing leadership on statewide program coordination activities by leading cross- functional teams of program managers from the California IOUs to ensure consistent program emphasis and delivery approaches; performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
The successful candidate must possess seven years experience in energy engineering, energy efficiency, product/program management and or energy policy issues.
General Job Requirements:
The successful candidate must possess a Bachelors Degree in Business, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; or an equivalent combination of knowledge, skills and experience. Typically possesses 5 years of supervisory or project management experience. Demonstrated knowledge of California’s Energy Efficiency (EE) Strategic Plan. Demonstrated experience managing & implementing medium to large multidisciplinary projects, including identifying, maintaining, and/or adjusting the cost, scope, and resources, managing vendors, and overseeing the formal planning, tracking, and reporting of project performance, as well as experience managing cross-functional teams. Demonstrated experience with consulting with clients, including independently identifying client needs, developing action plans, identifying deliverables, and presenting results. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills, and be customer focused, to appropriately identify and respond to client’s business needs and facilitate the presentation of recommendations. Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze information, integrate people processes, systems, and technologies, and make strategic decisions regarding project scope, impact, policy, development, and implementation. Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with clients, peers, contractors, regulatory agencies and all levels of management to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and accountability for results. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Visio.
Preferred Skills:
Master Degree in Business, Engineering or related technical discipline; proficiency in Visio.
