WORK DESCRIPTION & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This individual will be responsible for leading analysis of the renewable and alternative energy space for Cummins Power Generation (CPG) and to identify concrete strategies and opportunities for investment in new products, services and technologies. The individual must be an accomplished communicator, able to effectively present analysis and recommendations to top management and provide information for decision making. Success will be measured by adoption of recommendations by top management and initiation of new businesses or product introduction programs. These may be future roles for this individual.
Specific Tasks are as follows;
* Develop a market research plan to investigate the renewable energy space
* Identify 2-3 applications or energy sources for in depth investigation
* Conduct internal and external voice of customer to determine business and customer requirements
* Understand and analyze market and technology trends, performance improvements and identify opportunities for CPG
* Present findings within CPG, build consensus and lead CPG toward development of concrete initiatives and actions
* Charter follow on projects to begin technical investigations or further economic and market analysis leading to strategic partnerships or acquisitions
* Participate in project teams as appropriate
* Undertake research on specific technologies or applications as required
Requirements
DETAILED POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Masters degree in economics, statistics or related discipline with at least 3-5 years of experience in a role requiring analysis, market research or consulting. A track record of academic research can be a substitute. Must be familiar with econometric analysis, market research practices, statistical analysis and simulation modeling. Background in a engineering discipline a plus. Must have energy and passion for renewable energy. The role requires a self starter, someone who is able to develop and execute a plan of action and needs minimal supervision.
Experience and Education:
CRITICAL PERFORMANCE SKILLS
* MS required in Economics, Business, Statistics, Engineering or related.
* Prior renewable energy industry experience
* 3-5 years experience developing and executing market or business research or consulting that must include financial and statistical analysis.
* Economic analysis, simulation modeling and market research techniques
* Statistics and Monte Carlo analysis
* Experience conducting market surveys and voice of customer
* Interest and previous research in renewable energy a plus
* Undergraduate in an Engineering discipline a plus
* Six sigma and DFSS experience a plus
* Demonstrated initiative and ability to develop and execute a plan of action
* Creative thinker with a ‘can do’ attitude
