Description: The Senior Product Engineer will establish product requirements based on customer needs and lead efforts to develop, qualify and introduce new products for XeroCoat. He/She will work closely with other engineers, sales and marketing, and business development to introduce products based on advanced thin film coatings. These coatings will be used to enhance the optical performance of solar panels and other devices. This role will report directly to the SVP Engineering.
Responsibilities:
1. Understand and document the product needs of potential customers in different market segments.
2. Define target product performance and final specifications.
3. Jointly establish Product Roadmap.
4. Lead product development projects and product qualification and performance testing efforts.
5. Establish and document long term durability and reliability of finished product.
6. Build cost and price models and identify business opportunities.
Core Competencies:
• Knowledge of photovoltaic materials and construction
• Experience working with customers and understanding customer requirements
• Product qualification experience based on product performance and reliability, especially long-term outdoor testing.
• Project planning and managing experience
• Proven ability and desire to work with both Asian and European customers
• Excellent presentation skills and verbal and written communication skills.
• Relevant thin film process and/or materials development experience
• Familiarity with optical coating performance measurements and testing a plus
• Good general financial and business skills
• Experience with cost and payback modeling

Requirements
Requirements:
• BS or MS in relevant technical field
• Business background or MBA a plus
• 5+ years experience in process, product and/or materials development
• 3+ years working closely with customers
• Highly organized and motivated individual
• Successful record of launching new products
• Willingness to travel internationally and domestically

XeroCoat, based in Redwood City, CA, is a nanomaterials optical coating company that has developed a unique and low cost method of producing antireflection surfaces for glass and plastic. The XeroCoat system was invented at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. The Company recently completed a second round of venture capital funding with U.S. investors and has relocated its Headquarters to Redwood City, CA where it will build out its engineering, product development and sales functions.
