SkyPower is hiring for the position of Project Engineer, Solar Group to manage projects throughout the interconnection phases. The individual for this position will report directly to the Co-Head, Solar Group and work closely with all members of the solar development team in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
Duties Include:
-Responsible for overseeing all electrical interconnection project aspects from initial development phase through to commercial operation
-Lead the assessment and approval process for solar project interconnection with a variety of local utilities
-Work closely with our partners, consultants and utilities to coordinate interconnection in a timely manner
-Able to review and create single line diagrams, site plans and other technical diagrams and reports
-Understand protection philosophy and identify key technical criteria as it pertains to inverter-based solar generation
-Successfully manage & coordinate projects through the interconnection phases (Pre-Feasibility, Connection & System Impact Assessments, Cost Estimate, Cost Recovery Agreement, Design/Build/Connect)
-Successfully build and manage relationships with local distribution companies, equipment suppliers, municipalities, communities, special interest groups and consultants
-Coordinate with development team to help identify & evaluate new project sites
-Assist in evaluating new technologies and equipment suppliers
-Review technical project design and identify any potential issues
-Prepare for and represent SkyPower at technical meetings, presentations and conferences
-Keep informed about technical interconnection issues involved in Ontario and in the solar industry
-Communicate progress and salient issues with project team and partners
Requirements
Skills & Qualifications:
-Over 5 years of experience in an Electrical field – Power or Energy preferred
-Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering
-Familiar with Ontario’s Electricity marketplace as well as the Transmission and Distribution System
-Experience with renewable energy an asset
-Strong organization and time management skills
-Must be charismatic, outgoing, a self-starter, friendly and energetic
-Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
-Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Autocad (or equivalent)
Other:
-French an asset
-Must be able to travel across Canada and the United States
