Nanosolar

By Brett Bumeter - 25.06.2008

Silicon valley is quickly becoming the new “Valley of the Sun”. CNBC reports that Nanosolar has developed new panel technology that will replace the old silicon panels we are all familiar with. The new panels consist of a foil roll that is coated with a patented concoction of “metal glop” that utilizes nanotechnology to convert light into energy.

The treated foil rolls can be used in any number of applications, including but not limited to, weather stripping, roof tiles and slats and other general building materials.

So with the ever so technical ‘metal glop’ replacing those panels potentially, we might see silicon go back into making computer parts, semi conductors and glass sinks.
